What Work Will The Apprentice Be Expected To Do?

Customer service apprentices can be expected to be the first point of contact for any customer. They can have a lot of responsibility as apprentices may have access to customer’s personal details and specific requirements, as well as dealing with payments. Customers may also require apprentices to provide general information such as travel and local attraction information. Customers may also come to the apprentice if they have problems or complaints. Duties can be changed to suit your business needs but they usually include:

  • Interpreting customer concerns and comments
  • Liaison with customers about additional requirements
  • Greeting customers and assisting them within the business premises
  • Estimating time and cost associated with purchases
  • Handling and responding to customer complaints

How Can Remit Training Help You?

We work with companies like you to provide placements in which apprentices can undertake their Apprenticeship training. This can be the employment of an individual Apprentice or creating a bespoke programme for large annual cohorts of learners.


Who Carries Out The Training?

Remit Training will manage all of the apprentices training and assessments. Typically this course will take a year to complete and the apprentice will gain an NVQ/VCQ level 2 but there may be the option for them to progress and gain a NVQ level 3. To complete this qualification the learner will not need to go to a further education (FE) college or training centre. Their time will be spent in your business where they will get to learn practical skills from seeing a real working environment. The learner will be required to shadow a qualified member of staff so they are able to learn first-hand how to perform the role. Once the apprentice passes their assessments and progresses through the course they will be able to start completing tasks on their own. To ensure that the apprentices is competent in completing tasks by themselves a Remit assessor will visit your business premises every 4-8 weeks to complete assessment training with the learner.

Option 1

Creating an Apprenticeship Vacancy

Provide us with the details of your vacancy and job specification. Your dedicated Remit recruitment advisor will then:

  • Identify, assess and present for interview the most suitable candidates.
  • Provide you with support throughout the selection process.
  • Support the learners induction into your business

Option 2

Enrolling an Employee into an Apprenticeship

You have an existing member of staff that you wish to train. Your dedicated Remit recruitment advisor will then:

  • Complete your employee’s initial assessment online.
  • Advise on the most appropriate training method and qualification.
  • Identify and allocate your dedicated assessor and initiate the enrolment and induction into the training programme.

When Does An Apprenticeship Start?

The customer service apprenticeship can be started at any time of year on a roll-on and roll-off basis.


How Often Will Remit Visit The Workplace?

Each Apprenticeship varies, however it typically involves a visit once every 4 to 8 weeks.


What Support Is Available?

Your Apprentice will be allocated a dedicated assessor for the duration of their Apprenticeship programme. This is the person who will complete assessments, teaching and learning with them. They will also be on hand should you or the apprentice have any queries or concerns about the programme.


What Additional Support Will The Apprentice Receive?

If your Apprentice requires any additional support in completing their qualification, they will be allocated a dedicated learning support coach. This person will support them throughout the programme to ensure qualification achievement and can include support with learning difficulties, disabilities or social requirements.


What Is The Salary For An Apprentice?

During the Apprenticeship, you as the employer are required to pay the apprentice a salary. From 1st October 2015 this will be a minimum of £3.30 an hour. However, employers can pay more than this and some offer other benefits and incentives to the apprentice. In most cases this will be the only financial contribution required from you as the training fees for the Apprenticeship will be covered by Government funding.

Are There Any Training Cost?

Remit Training claim Apprenticeship funding on your behalf for the training we provide to your Apprentices. The amount of funding for an Apprenticeship depends on the job role and the age of the apprentice.

Can I Obtain A Grant Towards Employing an Apprentice?
